Pledge 5 Foundation to Host 5K-9 Dog Run
Buy Max a good sweatband, get Scruffy some nice running shoes, and start training those pups! The University Commons 5K-9 Dog Run, hosted by the Pledge 5 Foundation, is this Saturday, Feb. 25.
The Pledge 5 foundation will be accepting monetary donations as well as canned pet foods, kitty litter, pet toys and laundry detergent. Proceeds will be donated to Gainesville Pet Rescue, St. Francis House Pet Care Clinic and the Alachua County Humane Society.
Registration is $30 and includes a 5K-9 T-shirt, a doggy gift bag, a wellness filter water bottle, breakfast and refreshments, a series of professional photos taken at the 5K-9 photo booth, and a participation medal and/or placement trophies. Special events throughout the day will include a silent auction, a pet expo, pet superlatives and a dog training clinic.
Participants can save $5 on the registration fee by joining the Facebook cause and pledging to donate pet supplies. Additionally, the Pledge 5 Foundation will also be donating $5 towards Dance Marathon for every Dance Marathon participant that registers for the 5K-9.
Last year’s event had 175 people in attendance with their pups, and Pledge 5 hopes to surpass that number this year. The race begins at 9am at the University Commons. The 1-mile pet parade begins at 10am.
