Runways and Rescues this Friday
If you’re a fan of both canines and couture fashion (who isn’t?), then you’re in luck! Runways and Rescues is back for another year of glitz, glam and tail wagging. Brought to you by Jacquelyn Brooks Designs and Haile’s Angels Pet Rescue, the Runways and Rescues Fashion Show will feature designs from Jacquelyn Brooks and [...]
LOTD: Peplum Dresses
We know that flirty and feminine looks are huge right now, and what better way to show off a girlish figure than a peplum dress? Carey Ann Matthews, a third-year student at UF who works at the UF Division of Multimedia Properties, knows how to balance classy and sexy.
LOTD: Back in Black
We spotted Shelby Connors at the opening night of Gainesville Fashion Week. A little black dress was perfect for such an event. Shelby shows us how to stand out among all the colorful outfits and art show. We love the combination of the ladylike shape with the see-through lace cover. Sexy, but still elegant. The lace takes fashion’s most flattering hue from safe to exciting.
LOTD: Boyish boots
Who says boots are only for winter? Jordyn Schwersky, second-year journalism student at UF, rocks her Aldo boots with a denim strapless dress.
GFW Day 5: Closing Brunch and Trunk Show
Finally, after all the fabulous fashions and fun, the Gainesville Fashion Week drew a perfect ending with a lovely brunch and trunk show at Villa East.
LOTD GFW: Let’s Hear it for the Boys
Fashion is certainly not only for girls, and that is exactly what the gentlemen at Gainesville Fashion Week’s last runway show Saturday reminded us.
We spotted GFW’s models, guest and designer with stylish outfits. Guys sported colorful pants, striped tank tops and chic shoes.
GFW Day 4: Final Runway Show
The last of the runway shows came to an end Saturday with a huge bang and what could possibly have been the most high-energy evening in GFW history. Maybe it was the amazing fashion we saw last night, the great drinks being served, the electric presence of UF basketball stars Will Yeguete and Patric Young—or a combination of all that and more—but something got the crowd pumping and the enthusiasm finally boiled over when Mikho Resort took the stage.
GFW Day 3: Gala for the Arts
Gainesville Fashion Week is officially in full swing, and to wind down from the high energy of the night before, Giggle Magazine helped sponsor a gala to benefit Rocket for the Arts.
GFW Day 2: Music and Fashion night
Fashion-lovers made the pilgrimage to Villa East last night in high heels and their best outfits to witness Gainesville Fashion Week’s first music and fashion collaboration. Hosted by our very own editor, Maghan McDowell, the night kicked off with the vocal styling of Camyrn Wessner as guests filed in to mingle and take their seats around the white runway. When the lights dimmed and the music blared, the show kicked off with a zany collection from 1oz, the brainchild of GFW producer Albey Coronel. Our current cover star Christen Finkbeiner opened the show.
LOTD: Accessories Take Over GFW
Fashion week is only heating up. Besides cute dresses and chic shoes, the fashionistas at Gainesville Fashion Week’s first runway show this season paid attention to the details. Clutch, necklace, bracelet, ring, watch and even something as simple as nail polish—they all can change a person’s look completely.
