There's more to Gainesville than meets the eye. Just take a look at some of the people who live here.

In our fourth annual search for some of Gainesville’s most fascinating citizens, one theme was consistent. “Walking to the beat of your own drum,” “forging your own path,” “standing out from the crowd,” “thinking outside the box”—call it what you will, but being different, and doing it well, is what makes you interesting, whether it’s spending all your savings to rescue primates or turning a career in law enforcement into a series of page-turners.

And, you might ask, how did we arrive at 28? The goal was 20, but we like to go “above and beyond”—and you should too.
