November launches us into the holiday movie season. Sure, there are the requisite Christmas flicks, but this November will have a lot of action and a lot of drama.

DISNEY'S A CHRISTMAS CAROL
November 6; Fantasy, rated PG; Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth
This is a classic tale re-envisioned only the way Disney can. Mr. Scrooge is the most rotten man in town. He carelessly disregards the needs of others and does his best to avoid the good feelings at Christmas. Though completely set in his ways, fate has decided to change Scrooge's ways by sending the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come. Directed and written by Robert Zemeckis, the film takes an interesting look at the classic tale by Dickens. Oh, and it will be in 3-D.
2012
November 13; Action, rated PG-13; John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet
2012—a date of significance in almost every major religion and society in human existence— is almost upon the world. No one knew why the date was so important, until the day finally arrived. As the year begins, Earth begins to self-destruct at an alarming rate. Minute by minute, the planet begins to crash in upon itself, and humanity is thrust into a desperate struggle for survival. The film follows a really bland plot, but it does star some pretty amazing talent and features a good amount of high-tech special effects.
THE BLIND SIDE
November 20; Drama, rated PG-13; Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Kathy Bates
Based on a true story, The Blind Side follows Oher, a young black boy who comes from a broken home and can't imagine a life beyond what's in front of him. He is taken in by the Touhys and given the chance to succeed. With the help of coaches and his newfound family, Oher begins to better himself and discovers a love for football, eventually becoming an All-American offensive left tackle.
NINJA ASSASSIN
November 25; Action, rated R; Rain, Naomie Harris, Ben Miles
In Japan, the Ozunu Clan, long thought to be a myth by the populace, secretly trains unstoppable assassins to carry out their nefarious schemes. Raizo is an orphan who was plucked from the streets and raised to be the ultimate killer, a life he desperately wanted to escape from. For years, Raizo remained hidden from society, carefully planning his revenge, until the perfect moment to strike. OK, so the title is a bit redundant (a ninja is an assassin), but the film promises over-the-top action and stylish fighting that can't be beat.
