The Black Eyed Peas in Jax

Black Eyed Peas in JAX The Black Eyed Peas started their E.N.D Tour recently, and recently played one of their early dates at the Veteran’s Memorial Arena in Jacksonville.

By John Davisson

LMFAO opened the show with some humorous rapping, followed by Ludacris, before the Peas hit the stage.

The Black Eyed Peas opened their set in a flurry of smoke, lasers, and lights with “Let’s Get It Started.” All had unique costumes (and there were numerous costume changes throughout the show). Will.I.Am wore a Phantom of the Opera style mask, and Fergie had a silver outfit that looked like it was culled from a painting by HR Giger, and they marched down a long ramp extending almost to the soundboard at the back of the arena.

There was a band on a platform behind the Peas and the sides of the platform featured video screens (in addition to screens above the stage). Six mechanized dancers dressed as speakers provided dance routines between songs. The set, which lasted two hours, featured plenty of Peas’ hits plus solo material from each of them. There were confetti cannons, a flying motorcycle and even a DJ set. After the show, members of the Black Eyed Peas were supposed to appear at a club for DJ sets, although I was too tired to go to that.
