On the surface, Catherine and David look like the perfect couple; they’re happy and healthy with a talented teenage son. But the façade slowly begins to crumble when David’s behavior makes Catherine’s suspect infidelity. She hires an escort, Chloe, to prove her husband’s cheating ways and test his intentions. The more Catherine directs the seductress’s visits, the more the three weave a tangled web. Their Take: “Director Atom Egoyan finds intrigue at the edges of conventional sex,” —Roger Ebert Our Take: It definitely pushes the envelope.
The weight of the world rests in the hands of Zeus’ mortal son, in this updated version of the 1981 adaptation, which takes place in the Greek city of Argos. King Acrisius calls an all-out war on the gods, but Hades, Zeus and Poseidon all have their own plan for ultimate destruction. Can Zeus’ son make it through the dangerous trek to the Underworld before evil spreads to Earth? Their Take: “This wannabe epic is overwrought and frenetic but not even sporadically exciting,” —USA Today Our Take: This remake should have stayed in the ’80s.
Dave is a comic book geek whom nobody notices. He’s an average guy at an average high school living an average life, until one day when he is inspired to become Kick-Ass, a superhero with no actual powers. Together with Red Mist, Hit Girl and her father Big Daddy, he fights for justice against the local scum. Will they win out in the end or is being a real life superhero just a crazy dream? Their Take: “Lives up to the promise of its title, but it's better than its title, too,” —San Francisco Chronicle Our Take: We liked the idea more than the actual movie.
