Stiff competition and an abundance of ever-hungry college students could make it hard for franchises to compete, but owner Freddie Wehbe’s eight Gator Domino’s have surpassed the competition.

Fresh Picks
Domino’s came out with four new sandwiches this year, full of veggies, meat and cheese: the Italian Sausage and Peppers ($5.55), the Buffalo Chicken with blue cheese ($5.55), the Mediterranean Veggie ($5) and the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Habanero ($5.55). “They put a lot of color in them,” says Tony Filkins, manager of the Domino’s on Tower Road. The warm sandwiches can be delivered right to your door until 4 am, and, for just about $5, are competitively priced. Communications manager Mark Hall says he tried the Italian Sausage, and now he can’t stop. “I can’t eat anything else.”

If you’re not in the mood for a sandwich, try the Bread Bowl Pastas ($6-$8), which are available sans bread bowl, too. And for dessert, try the new Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes (two for $4) because the gooey milk-chocolate inside and crunchy shell outside make the perfect mouth-watering combination.

Ordering Made Easy
A comprehensive and easy-to-follow online ordering system make delivery quick and easy. Pizzas are laid out by crust, size and topping choices, and you can track your food from the moment it goes in the oven to the moment it leaves for your home. And since Domino’s guarantees its deliveries within 30 minutes (within reason and circumstance), you won’t have to wait long.

If you choose to pick up your pie, new Domino’s stores have monitors detailing the location of your order and the time left until you can take it home. The delivery should be a pleasant process, too, since Mark says “People who work at Domino’s have a positive attitude.”

More Than Expected
Domino’s is a take-out or delivery service, so you won’t spend a lot of time in the actual store. But it’s nice to know that if you are there, you’re going to be treated like family. Tony, who has been with Domino’s since 1984, says his store opens at 10am, but he’s been known to open early for hungry customers. He recommends the American Legend pizzas, six pies inspired by regional flavors, because their ingredients are high quality.

What’s another reason patrons continue to choose Domino’s? “We go to a lot of charity events,” Tony says. Gator Domino’s supports numerous causes in Gainesville, including March of Dimes and LifeSouth. Domino’s also makes sure there are plenty of coupons and specials to choose from by distributing door hangers and coupons with deliveries. “We reach out to a lot of the students,” Mark says.
